Man Falls, Survives. But Was He Lucky?
As Retold by Terry MacDonald Roger Kellaway gets credit for telling me this one. Two musicians are standing on a city street when one looks up to see a man falling from a balcony about five stories up. “Look!” he says. They watch in amazement as the man lands on an awning at the third-floor level, bounces off it and onto another awning on the second-floor level. After bouncing off that one, the man bounces off yet another awning, this one over a sidewalk café. Having landed on the sidewalk, the man now picks himself up, brushes himself off, and calmly walks away. “Man, is that guy lucky!” say one of the musicians. Says the other: “Nah, he’s not lucky. Andrew Lloyd Webber is lucky!” |
